The Louisiana State University Police Department may be accepting applications for the positions of POLICE OFFICER 1A, 2A, or 3A for both POST (Peace Officer Standards & Training) certified or Non-POST certified. Level of positions filled and pay above entry will depend on qualifications of candidates selected. Applicant must have a passing score of at least 70% for the 9500-LEAPS (Louisiana Law Enforcement and Protective Services) exam, unless currently occupying a Civil Service position in the LEAPS exam series, with permanent status or re-employment eligibility.
Police Officer 1A – No specialized experience or training is required.
Police Officer 2A – One year of experience in law enforcement required.
Police Officer 3A – Two years of experience in law enforcement required.
All applicants must possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license and must have attained their eighteenth birthday at time of application. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge, will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Special requirements: Willingness and ability to perform physically strenuous activities relative to the nature of law enforcement.
