The Office of Institutional Effectiveness offers workshops through out the academic year on student learning assessment and the assessment software utilized by LSU. Planning & Self- Study

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness has moved to a new reporting system, Planning & Self-Study. Open labs will be offered to ensure assessment leads are well prepared for reporting. If you would like to schedule a 1:1 consultation, please contact Rachel May directly for scheduling. 

Planning & Self-Study - Open Labs 

Open labs will be held for Planning & Self Study, a new reporting system for degree and stand-alone certificate program assessment and integrative learning core course assessment. Users of the system may arrive at any time during the 2-hour time-frame. The open labs will follow an open-ended format and will focus on addressing participants’ questions as they enter their assessment reports. Each participant must bring their own computer and any supporting materials needed. 

CASLA Certificate Sessions

The Certificate of Achievement in Student Learning Assessment (CASLA) is offered as recognition of members of the LSU community who have completed the scaffolded series of sessions necessary to earn the certificate. Sessions must be taken in order to complete the CASLA certificate. Contact OIE for questions.

CASLA Student Learning Assessment Workshop #1: Foundation and Fundamentals / LSU Reporting (1.5 hours)

CASLA Workshop #1 will include two sessions of a five session scaffolded series: Session 1) Foundation and Fundamentals and Session 2) LSU Reporting.  Upon successful completion, participants will be able to: define assessment, describe the value of assessment, understand the assessment process at LSU, and write meaningful assessment plans, annual student learning assessment reports, and program impact reports.  **Any workshop without registrants 24 hours in advance will be canceled. ** 

CASLA Student Learning Assessment Workshop #2: Rubric Development (1 hour)

CASLA Workshop #2 will include the third session of a five session scaffolded series: Rubric Development. Upon successful completion of this session, participants will be able to classify varying types of rubrics and construct a rubric that can be used for assessment. **Any workshop without registrants 24 hours in advance will be canceled. ** 

CASLA Student Learning Assessment Workshop #3: Using Evidence to Improve Learning / Actionable Insights (1.5 hours)

CASLA Workshop #3 will include two sessions of a five session scaffolded series: Session 4) Using Evidence to Improve Learning  and Session 5) Actionable Insights.  Upon successful completion, participants will discuss the appropriateness of evidence collected, how using multiple measures and integrating student learning data with institutional data can help tell your program’s story, discuss common barriers often found when collecting evidence for student learning assessment purposes, and how best to use data collected through the assessment process to make best practice data-driven decisions. **Any workshop without registrants 24 hours in advance will be canceled. ** 

Student Learning Assessment Informational Sessions

Hosted by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness,  this one hour informational session will include general information and feedback designed for degree program assessment leads.

Assessment PLAN (1 hour)

The Assessment PLAN informational meeting will include general information regarding the assessment plan and participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions and receive feedback on current/future assessment plans.  

Program Impact Report (PIR) (1 hour)

The Program Impact Report informational meeting will include general information about the Program Impact Report (PIR) and participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions and receive feedback on current/future reports.
