During Phase II of the Return-to-Campus Plan 

The LSU Student Health Center is open and committed to meeting the health and wellness needs of students with telehealth visits in the Medical Clinic, Mental Health Service, and Wellness and Health Promotion. In addition, in-person medical visits are available, by appointment only, after an initial virtual visit.


 

Service Hours:

Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.–4:15 p.m.

Telehealth Technology Requirements:

We will be using the HIPAA-compliant platform Microsoft Teams to deliver audio/ video tele-health support.

Primary medical care, including gynecology, provided via tele-medicine and secure messages.

In-person, medical care by appointment only (after an initial telehealth visit).

  1. Call 225-578-6716 for medical concerns.
  2. Send a secure message to a medical provider you have seen before through the Patient Portal. If you have never seen a provider, send a message to *New**Questions* using the Patient Portal.

Available Services How to Access Care Care After Hours

Mental health support through teletherapy sessions to discuss current concerns, coping strategies to address those concerns, and when appropriate to connect students with other local resources to address their needs.

Before a tele-therapy session, students should check-in using the Patient Portal.

  1. Call 225-578-8774 to leave a message with your name, student ID number, physical address, and a call back number. 
  2. Students who are under the current care of the Mental Health Service psychiatry may make requests for refills by calling 225-578-8774.

ThePhone is a 24-hour crisis counseling and support line serving the students of LSU. Callers to the LSU line are connected to volunteer paraprofessional counselors trained in crisis intervention and suicide prevention.

Assistance for student survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, relationship violence and stalking.

Wellness coaching and nutrition counseling via telehealth.

Case management assistance, resources and referral.

  1. Complete Lighthouse Program Services Request Form for sexual assault, domestic violence, relationship violence and stalking support and resources.
  2. Call 225-578-6716.
  3. Send a secure message to a health educator, dietitian, or case manager using the Patient Portal.

Your Health and Safety is Our Top Priority

Your health and safety is our top priority, and we have implemented a number of practices to reduce risk:

  • Telehealth appointments, or virtual visits, are available in all units.
  • Students must be evaluated during an initial telemedicine appointment prior to making an in-person, medical appointment.
  • Students can check-in and complete paperwork prior to their appointment from a mobile device, using the Patient Portal, www.lsu.edu.edu/shcportal.
  • Students remain in their vehicles until they are notified electronically that they can be taken back to an exam room to avoid over-crowded waiting areas. Anyone not essential to a visit is asked to remain in their vehicle.
  • All waiting areas support physical distancing.
  • There are designated, separate entrances for contagious (Northeast Entrance, Door 1) and non-contagious students (South Entrance, Door 2) with medical appointments.
  • Each non-contagious student that comes for an in-person medical visit is screened at the South Entrance, Door 1, for fever or any other COVID-19 related symptoms.
  • Strict cleaning and disinfection protocols are always in place and require frequent sanitizing of all surfaces.
  • All staff and students are required to wear a mask in the building, and hand sanitizer is available throughout the space.
  • Students with COVID-19 symptoms are immediately isolated and treated according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.
