Modern Campus Curriculum

Modern Campus Curriculum Support

Modern Campus (MC) Curriculum is a curriculum management software that is designed to help institutions like LSU navigate the courses and curricula approval process. The system ensures transparency, provides built-in approvals, and reduces back-and-forth by keeping everything in one place.

The Modern Campus Curriculum approval process follows LSU Policy Statement 45, Courses & Curricula.

Feedback is important to making this implementation as easy as possible. Please use the support email for feedback regarding the training, training materials, and software.

Best Practices

Continuous improvement is vital to ensuring efficiency with institutional processes. Below are some best practices identified during the last curriculum cycle.

  • Communication is key! The MCC system allows for multiple changes to be submitted in one proposal. Entering in multiple proposals for different changes on the same program creates issues including slowing down the approval process and creating avenues for errors.
  • The syllabus template has all the necessary required elements. Using the template sets up proposals for success.
  • 4000-level courses: remember these courses can be offered for graduate credit. For course changes on 4000-level courses, check Workday to determine if these courses are offered for graduate credit. Changes to 4000-level courses with graduate credit must also be reviewed by the Graduate Dean which requires routing in MCC.
  • "Notes" field in proposals is used to relay information about a course that a student must know before enrolling such as an additional fee or needing to sit for an exam upon completion. It is rare that this field will be used and if you have questions, please contact the MCC support email for clarification.
  • If a field does not apply to your proposal- leave it blank! For example, if your new course does not pre-requisites, leave the field blank. Please do not enter "n/a" as that will have to be removed manually before exporting to the Catalog.
  • Justifications should be written in the text box in the proposal, not attached as a separate document. Clearly identify the changes occurring and provide rationale in a brief manner. Include in the justification if the course credit contact hours differs from the break down chart and why.
