Jimmie WoodsJimmie M. Woods Sr., Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Metro Service Group, Inc., formerly known as Metro Disposal, Inc., (“Metro”), began his career in business as a youth working alongside his father Johnnie Woods, Sr., and his brothers. In 1982, with a single-axle rear loading truck Metro was formed. For more than thirty-five (35) years, Metro has become one of the largest, independently owned, industrial services companies in the Southeastern Region of the United States.

Through the vision and leadership of Mr. Woods, Metro has been propelled from a small start-up, family run business, into a major Louisiana-based corporation. In early 2013, the board of directors changed the name of the company to Metro Service Group, Inc., in order to reflect the vast array of services performed. Metro is a multi-faceted corporation with specific expertise and certifications in the following areas: Environmental Services, Construction/Demolition, Emergency Response and Solid Waste Management.

As a direct result of Mr. Woods’ strategic management and the overall corporate vision, Metro became one of the first minority owned firms to secure a major contract as a prime contractor within the State of Louisiana. Metro was the first private corporation, in the greater New Orleans area, to convert its fleet to compressed natural gas (CNG). Metro’s CNG facility is located at its New Orleans headquarters.

Presently, under his leadership, Metro continues to deliver outstanding services and is committed to “Excellence, Innovation and Responsiveness” within the public, private, commercial and industrial sectors. Mr. Woods continuously secures and maintains strong working relationships within the company’s industry and target market having provided services to, the United States Army Corp of Engineers, FEMA, the United States Air Force, the United States Navy, the City of New Orleans, as well as a myriad of other entities.

In addition to his expertise in the waste management and heavy construction field, Mr. Woods is an active member of his community. He is a board member of the Greater New Orleans Foundation, the New Orleans Business Council, and the Silverback Society. Mr. Woods is a former board member of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, the New Orleans Regional Black Chamber of Commerce, the Jefferson Economic Development Corporation (JEDCO), the Jefferson Housing Foundation, the Christian Civic Democratic Organization, and the Coalition for Leadership and Development. In addition, Mr. Woods contributes to and volunteers with a variety of charities across the greater New Orleans area. He has been recognized by a number of organizations for his charitable work, including: the American Cancer Society, the SCLC, the NAACP, the Urban League of Greater New Orleans, the Whitney M. Young Chapter of the Boys Scouts of America and a recipient of the Weiss Award.

Although Mr. Woods is proud of his service to both Metro and his community, he is a devoted husband to The Honorable Regina B. Woods, a Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal Judge, and as father and step-father to three daughters and three sons, one of whom is serving his country as a Cadet at the United States Air Force Academy.
