Mentorship
Empowering future educators through mentorship, professional growth, and community.
The Tiger Teacher Corps Mentorship Program connects early teacher candidates with experienced peers to support academic success, professional readiness, and a strong sense of belonging within LSU’s teacher preparation community.
How It Works
- First and second year students are matched with junior or senior mentors in their degree area.
- Mentor–mentee pairs connect at least once a month, in person or virtually.
- Monthly themed events foster networking and professional learning communities.
- Mentors support 1–3 mentees, focusing on program navigation, building confidence, and preparing for careers.
- Progress is tracked through Tiger Tracker in Moodle, promoting accountability and goal setting.
Why Join
- Mentors gain leadership experience, service hours, resume-building credentials, and meaningful connections with faculty and peers.
- Mentees receive guidance, build academic confidence, expand networks, and develop a pathway to future leadership.
- Teacher Preparation Programs benefit from stronger engagement, morale, and outreach across the Tiger Teacher Corps.
