Newton's First Law - Inertia

Accelerometer swung by hand

The colored liquid in the accelerometer will "slosh" away from the direction of acceleration due to the inertia of the liquid. Hold the accelerometer up and quickly move it to the side. There will be a colored residue that shows the direction of the inertia. It can be swung and suddenly stopped. The liquid will try to keep moving forward.
