Society of African and African American Studies

The Society for African and African American Studies (SAAAS) is a student organization for students of all backgrounds to join in conversations of identity, inequality, and intersectionality specifically related to Africans, African Americans, and Africans throughout the diaspora. Its purpose is to attract interested students to the AAAS Department, promote meaningful dialogue, and host impactful programs. SAAAS recruits new members and co-sponsors multiple programs. SAAAS aspires to grow further by developing a consistent membership, hosting more frequent dialogues and programs, connecting students with resources within the AAAS Department, and continuing its long term goal of becoming a significant presence on LSU’s campus. Major where you matter!
