There are multiple upcoming courses available to faculty regarding accessibility. “Designing and Teaching Accessible Courses” is a fully-online course beginning Jan. 21. Upcoming Changes to Elsevier Journal Subscription

Due to dramatic increases to subscription costs, LSU will be canceling its subscription package of Elsevier journals at the end of 2019. Going forward, LSU Libraries will subscribe to Elsevier journals on a title-by-title basis, retaining the most highly used journals by the LSU community. LSU Libraries will offer two options to access journals to which LSU will no longer be subscribing. For more details and updates, visit lib.lsu.edu/elsevier-changes.

UREC Membership Discount Through End of May

In recognition of Employee Health and Fitness Month, UREC will be offering a 5% discount to new UREC annual and summer memberships during the month of May. Current members who are eligible for renewal in the month of May are also able to take advantage of this discount. To sign up for a new membership, visit the main operations desk at UREC. Ethics Helpline

Every member of the LSU community deserves to work and study in a safe, comfortable environment that promotes integrity, civility, and mutual respect. Misconduct, discrimination, or any form of harassment have no place on any LSU campus. To better identify and address such behavior as it occurs and to prevent future incidents, LSU has expanded its existing LSU Ethics and Integrity Hotline into the new Ethics, Integrity, and Misconduct Helpline.

This enhanced platform will provide a single point of access for students, faculty, and staff on every LSU campus to report an incident anonymously, if they so choose, and for that report to be reviewed and addressed in a more secure and efficient way. It will also increase our collective ability to identify and track trends through data analysis, provide training and education based on demonstrated needs, and provide even more accurate reporting for federal and state guidelines.

Accessibility

LSU is committed to ensuring its online content is accessible to all users, regardless of ability or disability. Per Section 504 of the Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, all online content, including but not limited to course materials, websites and pdfs, must be compliant according to WCAG 2.0 Level AA and WAI-ARIA 1.0. LSU’s entire online presence must be brought into compliance by August 2019. 

Sites in non-university-supported solutions will need to be remediated by the managing unit. Faculty are responsible for remediating their own websites.
