Current and Pending (Other) Support

Current and Pending (Other) Support is a form typically used by federal sponsors to assess the capacity of any conflicts of commitment that may impact the ability of the individual to carry out the research effort as proposed. The information also helps assess any potential scientific and budgetary overlap/duplication with the project being proposed. Most federal agencies require Current and Pending (Other) Support documents to be submitted with the proposal and/or just before an award is issued. Sponsors may also require any changes to be disclosed in progress reports. The format of Current and Pending (Other) Support form varies by funding agency. Some federal agencies are beginning to adopt the use of the Current and Pending (Other) Support Common Form and require use of Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv), an application tool that helps Investigators create and maintain biographical sketches, as well as current and pending support forms.

Over the last few years, the U.S. Government has raised concerns about undue foreign influence, prompting federal agencies to issue clarifying guidance to explain that all sources of support, domestic and foreign, must be disclosed, regardless of whether the support is managed as a sponsored project or provided directly to a researcher.

Each individual researcher is responsible for ensuring that his/her Current and Pending (Other) Support form is complete and accurate and follows funding agency’s guidelines. Below are some tools to assist with preparing Current and Pending (Other) Support forms. These tools reflect only the data points captured in Geaux Grants and Workday. It is imperative that individuals review and verify all sponsored project data by referring to the submitted proposals, awards, and any subsequent amendments.

GeauxGrants Pre-defined Reports – Current & Pending Awards by Investigator & Current & Pending Proposals by Investigator

GeauxGrants Pre-defined Reports provide most of the required information. Level of effort and any other missing information can be found from sources such as the award document, the proposal budget/budget justification, and Workday.

Consider post-award modification requests such as Investigator changes, effort reductions, and incremental funding that may have occurred.

Workday Reports – Award/Grant Information & Award Key Personnel

The Workday Award/Grant Information (Job Aid coming soon) lookup allows users to search by the Investigator’s name.  Enter the individual’s name in both the Principal Investigator(s) and the Co-Investigator(s) fields to get all projects where the individual is listed in Workday as an Investigator of a project. Workday also tracks effort for the individuals who require the sponsor’s prior approval to reduce effort.  Refer to Award Key Personnel Commitments for instructions.
