Biography

Mike joined LSU as Director of the Foreign Language Laboratory (FLL) and language instructor for the Department of German in September of 2006. His experiences living, studying and teaching in Germany and Austria combined with his prior teaching experience at the University of Cincinnati allows Mike to share his enthusiasm for the German language and culture with LSU students. His position as Director of the language lab allows Mike to find new technologies and combine them with language learning. Since joining LSU, Mike’s promotion of German and technology has included online testing, voice recording, providing students travelling abroad with tools to document their experiences, Stammtisch, which in an informal gathering for students and faculty to speak German, and the German Film Series. Mike is also a member of Schlaraffia, which is a German cultural club who meets at the Deutsches Haus in New Orleans. Mike aspires to promote the study of the German language and other foreign languages through the facilities of the LSU language lab.
