Remembering Dr. Frank Gresham:
We are deeply saddened to share with the LSU community the passing of our former colleague
and friend, Dr. Frank Gresham. He passed away at the age of 77 on Wednesday, July
8th, 2026. He was lovingly surrounded by his family after several years of illness.
Dr. Gresham was an exceptionally prolific scholar whose contributions to school psychology
were both extensive and influential. A prominent authority in social skills assessment
and interventions in school psychology, he was dedicated to children at risk with
emotional and behavioral disorders. He directed millions of dollars in grants, which
funded research related to treatment integrity, response-to-intervention, and applied
measurement practices. Dr. Gresham was also the co-author of the Social Skills Improvement
System (SSIS) and has written over 250 journal articles, books, and book chapters.
Through his scholarship, he left a lasting impact on the field and on the many colleagues
and students who had the opportunity to know and work with him. His legacy will endure
through his important scholarly contributions, his love of tailgating and crawfish
boils, and his extraordinary party-hosting skills. Our sincere condolences go to his
family, friends, colleagues, and former students.
