Billing Statements

The Billing Statement is a transaction history of the student account which includes all charges and payments. Many people depend on the monthly billing statement that is mailed to review the amount due; however, please note the Billing Statement amount could change due to the timing of additional transactions incurred. To view "real-time" balances, students are strongly encouraged to access the billing statement on myLSU > Financial Services > Billing Statement especially if changes have been made to class schedules and registration.

To grant third parties, such as spouses, parents or guardians, permission to view the student account information and “act on behalf” of the myLSU user, see the myProxy detailed information. Please note authorized users will have the ability to see the payment history, academic records and/or other personal information.

Receiving Billing Statements & E-mail Notifications

To ensure students receive Billing statements via mail and e-mail notifications, students must keep myLSU contact information updated by navigating to myLSU > Personal Preferences > Directory Information. Students should verify and make any necessary updates to the preferred home and local mailing addresses, e-mail address, and phone number listed .

As a reminder, after a student graduates or is no longer active, the student will lose access to myLSU. Students must update the forwarding email address under Personal Preferences > LSU Email to receive any future unanticipated notifications. For more information view LSU’s GROK Article: myLSU Portal: Updating the Email address for a forwarding only account.

Failure to Pay

Please be aware of LSU's payment deadlines. It is imperative that students stay informed of account balances and due dates to avoid penalties. Failure to pay balances by the due date can result in being purged from class(es) and loss of services, including the ability to enroll in future terms and the account being transferred to the Louisiana Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General (AG) for collections. Students can always review their account and pay balances online 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the Billing Statement through myLSU. Please note, even if students do not receive a Billing statement or other notifications about the account balance, the student is responsible for all debts incurred with LSU.

Return of Unearned Military Tuition Assistance (TA)

This policy serves to fully inform students receiving Military Tuition Assistance (TA) funding the required actions the University must take to comply with the Department of Defense (DOD) memorandum policy to return to Military Tuition Assistance funds that align with the rule of Department of Education Title IV of Higher Education.

Military Tuition Assistance (TA) is awarded to a student under the assumption that the student will attend school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded. When a student withdraws, the student is no longer eligible for the full amount of TA Funds that were originally awarded. To comply with the Department of Defense (DOD) policy, Louisiana State University and A & M College will return any unearned TA funds on a prorated basis through at least 60% portion of the period for which the funds were provided. All unearned funds are returned based upon when the student stops attending for that period.
