This position will be responsible for the day to day care of animals that are under the care of the Veterinarian or are being assessed for Veterinarian attention.  This includes feeding and cleaning cages and work areas of sick animals and areas used by the veterinarian.  Clean and sterilize operating room and equipment after use. Assistant will pack and autoclave instruments.

Work Environment: The incumbent works in both an office environment and veterinary clinical environment.  Work in animal kennels is likewise required.  Position does involve constant exposure to animals. Occasional duties may require travel or working in non-office environment.

Physical Demands:  Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting, lowering, pulling, pushing and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb in order to complete various job duties.
