Our practice includes a full range of medical and surgical cases, including a great deal of orthopedic work with a Board Certified veterinary practitioner on staff. We would love to help you get started on ABVP Board Certification if that's one of your goals! We have a 12-week initial mentorship/internship program with one of or senior staff/partners when you first start to make your jump from class to cash as painless as possible.

If you're looking for a team approach to veterinary medicine, and would enjoy a two, three or four or five work week as well as the opportunity to learn from successful, experienced doctors who also encourage CE, (we know ALL the best places around the USA and the world to go for just what you need!) we'd love to talk to you! We want you to be the smartest, most efficient DVM you can be, that is always one of our goals for you. Starting salary between $85,000-$110,000, your pay will always be ABOVE average with us! Your work-life balance will also be above average too, we take a holistic approach to your initial first year professional development.

Benefits include health insurance, liability and malpractice insurance, CE assistance, license renewals, signing bonus up to $10,000, 3 weeks paid vacation, and reduced rates for veterinary services. We can also help you with repayment of those pesky student loans.

The community is recognized as one of the top to settle down in, raise a family and retire with its thriving economy. Combining this with easy access to the city and our beloved sports teams and entertainment, festivals, lakefront and more makes it a top choice for many.

Job Description: Associate Veterinarian for Emergency Clinic

Full-time associate ER veterinarians can earn over $100,000 working three shifts per week. In fact, you do not need to be an experienced veterinarian in emergency medicine to be successful and new graduates would be an excellent fit for our practice.

Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC) provides after hours veterinary care for our patients and referring veterinarians. We are a locally-owned private practice serving the Central Illinois region. Our hours of operation include weeknights, weekends, and most major holidays.

Mentoring Program

During the initial training process, new veterinarians are accompanied by another emergency clinician for the first six to eight weeks of practice. To gain surgical experience, your initial training will also include performing routine surgeries with Highland Pet Hospital in Bloomington, IL. In general, there is one emergency clinician with supporting staff on each shift and additional assistance can be provided by the on call doctors.

Position Description

Most patients are seen for continual referral veterinary care, routine illnesses, and owner convenience. Routine responsibilities include evaluating and triaging patients, evaluating diagnostic tests (Bloodwork, Imaging), managing and supervising intensive care patients, performing surgical procedures, overseeing veterinary technicians or other support staff, and communicating with referring veterinarians and owners. The caseload for weekend days averages 10 cases per shift and weekday overnights averages 6 cases per shift. On average, a full-time associate will work 40 hours per week.

We offer:

  • Salary compensation starting at $90,000-$110,000 (Full-Time Associate)
  • Signing bonus
  • Student loan reimbursement option - up to $20,000 with a 3 year contact
  • Quarterly production option

Comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • 2 week equivalent of paid time off per year
  • Health insurance benefits
  • Continuing education reimbursement
  • Professional dues for the following organizations (AVMA, PLIT, DEA, VIN)
  • Retirement benefits

New graduates are encouraged to apply! To join our team, please contact Dr. Patti Niehm via email at  niehm.hph@gmail.com or send resume to  309-828-5836.

Our onsite rehab center is an excellent complement to orthopedic procedures. Our ideal candidate would have an interest and skill set in surgery, especially orthopedics.

Woodstock Veterinary Clinic is in proximity to Crystal Lake which is a major city in the area with several nearby attractions. A fun fact about our area - Woodstock town square was made famous as this was the area where they filmed Groundhog Day!
