What Faculty Need to Know for Fall Testing

As you are developing your Fall 2020 courses, please consider the following information in planning your assessments:

Scheduling Final Exams in ProctorU:

Due to the high volume of exams both institutionally and nationally during finals week, please consider the following when scheduling dates/times for remotely proctored finals:

  • ProctorU encourages faculty to schedule remotely proctored exams at least two weeks prior to the start of the exam window
  • Select a wide range of dates and times to minimize capacity issues and overlap of exams by different courses
  • Be aware of students who are taking exams in different time zones

LSU Final Exam Information:

  • Finals must be completed by Saturday December 12th
  • No exam shall exceed two hours
  • Final exams given through ProctorU must include the published dates/times for the final examination period but can be extended beyond this time period:

Example: CHEM 1201 published date/time for final exam is Wednesday December 9, 9:00am – 11:00am. When scheduling the exam proctoring instance in ProctorU, faculty must include the published time, but are encouraged to select a wider proctoring period such as: Monday December 7 starting at 8:00am through Wednesday December 9, 10:00pm.

Please Note: Due to the high volume of exams both institutionally and nationally during finals week, ProctorU may not be able to accommodate your exam if you provide a narrow exam period.

  • The LSU Testing Center will not be open in the Fall 2020.
  • LSU announced that students will not return to campus after the Thanksgiving Holiday.  All remaining exams, including final exams, will be conducted online.
  • If you plan to offer remotely-proctored exams, faculty are required to provide advanced notice to students. Please see the faculty section of the Remote Proctoring page.

  • The Office of Testing & Evaluation Services administers placement exams for incoming freshman, and credit by examination for continuing and incoming transfer students. Students who take placement exams/credit by examination have the ability to earn course credit, the score on each exam effects the course enrollment level. For additional information, please visit the Placement/Credit by Examination page.

  • Faculty who are planning to utilize remote proctoring for the Fall 2020 Semester, please visit the Remote Proctoring page, which includes general information regarding remote proctoring and specific information on utilizing ProctorU.
