Recruiting Information for Students

Graduate Students

A number of activities take place on and off campus that can assist our Masters and Doctoral students in finding internships and full-time positions.

On-Campus Interviewing

The on-campus interviewing process takes place in the Fall semester between the months of September and November. Employers will usually visit campus over a two or three day period, where they will give a company presentation one evening and conduct interviews the following day(s). On-campus interviews are managed by LSU Career Services through the Careers2Geaux system. Students interested in participating can learn more and register for an account by visiting the Careers2Geaux website.

Fall 2015 On-Campus Recruiting Schedule:

Company Interview Day(s) Information Session Info Session Location

Job Postings

If a company is unable to visit campus, they will often submit job postings for full-time employment or internship opportunities. A complete list of job postings can be found by searching through the Careers2Geaux job posting pages.

Career Fairs

The LSU Career Expo is the largest recruiting event held on campus, drawing hundreds of recruiters and about 2,000 students and alumni. There are opportunities for students in all fields and at all levels to network with professionals; learn about career options and graduate and professional programs; find out about open jobs; and generally explore their intended career fields.

The AAPG-SEG Student Expo is a one-of-a-kind career expo held each Fall. This expo draws representatives from companies and organizations from around the world looking specifically to employ geologists. LSU students have been fortunate to attend the expo for a number of years and many students have been fortunate enough to find internships and full-time positions while attending. Contact an AAPG Student Chapter Officer to find more information about the Student Expo and how to attend.

On-Campus Interviews and Job Postings

Both of these job search options are posted in the LSU Careers2Geaux online system. Careers2Geaux is LSU’s source for job postings, on-campus interviews, recruiting events, career-planning workshops and resources, networking, and managing the job search. You must register with Career Services by setting up a profile in Careers2Geaux in order to gain access to these useful tools. Once you set up a Careers2Geaux profile, you can also opt into our résumé referral service; employers sometimes ask our office to forward résumés that match the qualifications for a particular opportunity.
