COVID-19 Vaccine Update

Friday, January 15, 2021; 2:17 p.m.

Dear LSU Community,

As part of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution, we have been allocated a small number of initial doses for members of the LSU community considered to be in Tier 1a and Tier 1b for Louisiana COVID-19 vaccinations:https://ldh.la.gov/assets/oph/Coronavirus/resources/Vaccine/Vaccine-Who-Gets-It-Now-IGTW.png. We have identified and contacted individuals on the front lines who meet these specific requirements. The administration of these vaccines began Wednesday, January 13.

We anticipate receiving more vaccine doses in the future and making them available to students, faculty, and staff according to state and CDC guidance. We are currently in the process of creating a comprehensive vaccine education and distribution plan for the entire campus family. Very soon, a vaccination pre-registration survey will be sent to students, faculty, and staff. This form will be used to determine your interest in receiving the vaccine from LSU. It is very important to complete this survey as soon as possible.

We are eager to begin helping to eradicate COVID-19 by encouraging as many people as possible to get inoculated, and we will be in touch as we receive more information related to vaccine availability on our campus. In the meantime, please visit https://lsu.edu/roadmap/vaccines/ to learn more.
