LGBTQ+ Project Events

The LGBTQ+ Project's signature events contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ students at LSU. The Project provides significant celebratory, social, academic, and professional opportunities for LGBTQ+ and allied students, faculty, and staff to engage in diverse experiences and demonstrations of self-determination and identity affirmation.

Rainbeaux Rush

Rainbeaux Rush is a celebration that kicks off the academic year for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) students and their allies. The program provides opportunities for new and returning LGBTQ+ students and their allies to foster connections and learn about campus and community resources for the LGBTQ+ community at LSU.

Coming Out Day

Every year on or before National Coming Out Day on October 11, the LGBTQ+ Project celebrates coming out and LGBTQ+ awareness.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) is an annual observance on November 20 to honor the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.

Geaux Red

Geaux Red is the annual HIV/AIDS awareness event in honor of World AIDS Day hosted by the LGBTQ+ Project. Geaux Red is hosted every year in November or the beginning of December.

Transgender Day of Celebration

Transgender Day of Visibility (TDoV) is an annual holiday on March 31 to celebrate the accomplishments, victories, and visibility of transgender and gender non-binary people.

Q5 Summit

At the end of each Spring semester, the LGBTQ+ Project coordinates the Q5 Summit. This event brings together all of the LGBTQ+ organizations on campus including Spectrum, Qroma, Louisiana Trans Advocates: LSU, OUTLaw, and the LGBTQ+ Faculty and Staff Caucus to set their priorities and agenda for the upcoming year. The event ends with a State of the Union address which is open the public.

Lavender Graduation

Lavender Graduation celebrates, recognizes, and honors LGBTQ+ students who successfully complete their college careers at LSU. The celebration is held at the end of the spring semester each year.

Louisiana Queer Conference

The conference provides an annual venue for individuals to discuss ideas and collaborate on projects, while building a statewide network to advance the LGBTQ movement.
