What is the difference between PHC sororities, IFC fraternities, and NPHC sororities and fraternities?
PHC sororities that are part of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) and IFC fraternities that are part of the National Interfraternity Conference (NIC) participate in a structured formal recruitment process that takes place the week before school starts in the fall. Men and women of any classification may participate, regardless of the number of credit hours they have. NPHC sororities and fraternities recruit members through a process called Membership Intake. You must have a 2.5 Cumulative GPA, at least 12 LSU credit hours, and be in good standing with the University to be eligible to participate in an NPHC Membership Intake Process. PHC also includes Sigma Alpha sorority , which conducts its own recruitment two weeks into the semester, and Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority, a historically Latina and Multicultural sorority, which also conducts a separate Membership Intake process.
How do you pursue membership in an NPHC Organization?
Students who are interested in joining an NPHC fraternity or sorority should attend 2018 NPHC Greek Code on August 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom of the LSU Student Union. In this meeting. students will learn more about each organization and the application processes for Membership Intake.

Individuals research the organizations and look for attributes that are of interest to them. Each organization focuses on one or more of the following: academics, campus involvement, leadership, service or friendship. Look carefully at all of the chapters and evaluate which one best meets your values, needs, and interests. Visit their national and local websites. Attend programs and activities on campus sponsored by the organization and get to know their current chapter members.
