Each member is asked to serve on one of three Committees:
Emergency Support Fund Committee-- The Student Emergency Support Fund benefits students in need of support for emergency situations. The fund has helped students experiencing total loss due to fires, tragic/unexpected death of a parent/family member, and sudden loss of employment. Committees members review applications and provide funding recommendations to Student Affairs staff via email within 24 hours.
Family Association Scholarship Committee -- Since 2010, the LSU Family Association has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to students of Family Association members. The Family Scholarship Fund helps alleviates financial burdens on students through a $1,000 scholarship. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, involvement, and leadership and/or service in the LSU community. Members serving on this Committee participate in the selection process (second round) by reviewing applicant resumes and responses to two short essay questions and submitting scores and recommendations to Student Affairs staff via email.
Campus Collaboration Grant Committee -- Each year, the LSU Family Council provides up to $10,000 in total to up to three LSU departments, programs, or initiatives. Committee members review the first round of applications and choose three finalists to present during the Spring Family Council Meeting. The final three can be awarded up to $5,000 in support of their department or program. Grants are funded by the LSU Family Council Fund.
I certify that I have read and understand expectations for LSU Family Council members, including the leadership gift of $1,000.
