Hurricane Evacuation Demand Estimation Traffic safety Data collection for transportation planning Transferability of transportation planning data.
Modeling Hurricane Evacuation Traffic - Various methods of hurricane evacuation demand estimation have been developed, including a time-dependent sequential logit model for demand estimation, a time-dependent gravity model of hurricane evacuation destination choice, and a dissaggregate time-dependent multinomial logit model of hurricane evacuation destination choice. Research has also been conducted on developing a time-dependent stated choice hurricane evacuation data collection method in which audio-visual presentation of the time-dependent storm scenarios is used to enhance the realism of each scenario. Research is currently in progress on developing a route choice modeling process that is capable of reproducing route choices made by evacuees from hurricanes. Statewide Traffic Safety Study - The objective of this study is to identify and quantify the factors contributing to highway crashes in Louisiana. Phase I of the project included a review of studies conducted to identify factors affecting road safety, and a review of data, legislation, programs, and funding related to road safety. This part of the study is reported in Louisiana Transportation Research Center Technical Report 399. Phase II of the project used the Fatality Analysis Reporting System, the General Estimates System, and the Louisiana Crash Data to identify areas in which Louisiana has poorer safety performance than it's peer states. Priorities were established and countermeasures recommended. Phase II of the study in reported in Louisiana Transportation Research Center Final Report 434. , and then establish a model that relates the condition in these safety areas with human, roadway, and vehicle factors.
