Biography
Janet Kirshner taught first grade in East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools for eighteen
years. She served three terms as President of the local affiliate of the Louisiana
Association of Educators/National Education Association and three terms on the LAE
Board of Directors. Kirshner was appointed to numerous state panels charged with
creating and revising teacher evaluation programs for the state of Louisiana. She
was twice elected as the teacher voting member on the East Baton Rouge Parish School
Board’s Instructional Services Committee.
Kirshner joined the faculty as an Instructor and University Supervisor in 2007. Her
interests and areas of expertise include teacher preparation, supervision of student
teachers and emerging literacy. Kirshner’s teaching assignments have included supervising
student teachers and teaching the course on Planning, Managing, and Evaluating School
Instruction.
