New Vehicle Purchases
New vehicles must be purchased against state contracts and may only be purchased as replacements (trades must be turned in to State Property Control upon delivery of new vehicles).
State contracts for vehicles are awarded by the state any time from September to November and normally have a cutoff date in February. Because of long delivery times for vehicles and fiscal year budget cutoffs, orders for vehicles are to be placed as early as possible.

Exceptions to purchasing vehicles against state contracts are rare and must be preapproved by LSU's Assistant Vice President for Procurement and the Office of State Procurement.
Vehicle Rentals
Vehicle Rental for instate travel requires use of established state contracts or competitive bids in compliance with the Procurement Code.
