The Office of Academic Affairs strives to provide development and enrichment opportunities that help faculty grow and thrive in the university environment. Below are opportunities for faculty to actively engage in professional development.
National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity
As part of university’s continued mission, we have recently obtained an institutional membership to the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD).
The NCFDD is an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community of faculty, postdocs, and graduate students from over 450 colleges and universities. In addition to the resources available to you as an institutional member, the center also offers professional development training and intensive mentoring programs.
Distinguished Faculty Awards
The Office of Academic Affairs administers several faculty awards throughout the year. Please click here for a full listing of awards. Special thanks go to the LSU Alumni Association, the LSU Foundation, and the Tiger Athletic Foundation for their continued support.
Southeastern Conference Academic Leadership Development Program
The SEC Leadership Development Program is a year long faculty development program that cultivates leaders and allows the exchange ideas with peers amongst the 13 SEC schools. The university level development program is designed by each institution for its own participants in addition to SEC hosted workshops held on specified campuses for all program participants. Learning & Teaching Collaborative
The Learning & Teaching Collaborative (LTC) is a joint effort between the Office of Academic Affairs and the LTC committee that serves as resource for faculty wishing to explore alternative pedagogy in the classroom, including the use of new technologies. Each year, the group hosts a spring faculty colloquium and invites a nationally renowned subject matter expert to provide a key note address followed by a workshop.
Faculty Sabbatical Report
Upon return to the University following sabbatical leave, faculty complete a report on accomplishments during their sabbatical leave. The Faculty Sabbatical Report is a compilation of sabbatical summaries from the 2017-2018 school year.
