Mass Communication Residential College

The Mass Communication Residential College (MCRC) is sponsored by the Manship School of Mass Communication and offers an educational and social community for the next generation of journalism, public relations, advertising, and political communication professionals living in Residential College One - South Hall.

In addition to being a part of the on-campus community and Residential College One - South Hall community, students in the Mass Communication Residential College also benefit from these unique opportunities provided in this living-learning community:

  • Live and take classes with the same group of peers (sometimes right in their res hall!), creating a smaller network within the larger LSU campus
  • Have priority scheduling for some mass communication classes
  • Attend exclusive seminars from Manship faculty on topics like resume writing and business etiquette
  • Interact with Manship School of Mass Communication faculty, staff, and alumni
  • Prepare to apply for entrance into the Manship School of Mass Communication
  • Get acclimated to the diversity of the mass communication field and empowered for successful careers in a fast-paced, evolving field
  • Explore different career opportunities within each major
  • Leave the program able to demonstrate an understanding of diversity and of professional ethics in pursuit of trust and accuracy
  • Think critically, creatively, and independently
  • Attend Associated Press writing style tutoring program to learn to write correctly and clearly in forms and styles appropriate for the communications professions, audiences, and purposes they serve
  • Access to in-community tutoring, study groups, and faculty office hours
  • Meet with in-hall academic advisers during set office hours to help adjust socially and educationally to college life
