BATON ROUGE – Nearly 2,000 LSU students, staff and faculty are expected to come together with Baton Rouge residents for the sixth annual Geaux BIG Baton Rouge service project on April 14, 2018.  Volunteers will say “thank you” to the surrounding community by lending assistance to improve homes, schools and nonprofit organizations.

Geaux BIG Baton Rouge brings together volunteers from across campus to complete projects requested by residents and local nonprofits. Volunteers will focus on real needs within Baton Rouge and the surrounding communities by working on projects identified by Baton Rouge residents and local nonprofits. Volunteers will be available to serve at more than 100 work sites, which can range from working in yards and painting to cleaning homes and visiting with the elderly. Residents and organizations interested in requesting volunteers can complete a Job Request Form at http://geauxbig.lsu.edu before Feb. 1, 2018.

LSU students, staff and faculty, including student organizations, will be able to register to volunteer between Jan. 22, 2018, and March 23, 2018 by visiting http://geauxbig.lsu.edu

Geaux BIG Baton Rouge is a one-day event that seeks to unite LSU students and Baton Rouge residents through service in order to strengthen the university’s relationship with the community. It is modeled after The Big Event program, which was established in 1982 at Texas A&M University.
