LSU Manship School Student One of Only 38 Students in World Named to Prestigious Journalism Program

LSU Manship School of Mass Communication Senior Katie Gagliano is one of 38 students chosen from 19 universities around the world to participate in the prestigious Carnegie-Knight News21 multimedia reporting initiative, which will investigate U.S.-based hate crimes. The Covington, Louisiana native will travel to Tempe, Arizona, this summer to research and report for the program.

Chevron Celebrates Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Philanthropic Donation to LSU

On Feb. 8, Chevron celebrated its longstanding partnership with LSU at a check presentation and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Chevron Center for Engineering Excellence housed in Patrick F. Taylor Hall. Through its University Partnership Program, Chevron generously donated $850,000 this year in support of 37 units, student organizations and colleges across campus, which include the E. J. Ourso College of Business, the College of Engineering, the College of Science, Campus Life and 15 student organizations. With this donation, Chevron has donated more than $17 million to advance academic excellence at LSU.

Each spring, the Friends of the LSU Libraries holds its annual Book Bazaar. Proceeds from the bazaar go into an endowment that, over the years, has provided more than $1 million in support of library acquisitions and services.

Four Honors Students Chosen as LSU's 2018 Truman Nominees

Four Ogden Honors students have been selected as LSU’s nominees for the nationally competitive Truman Scholarship, awarded by the Harry S. Truman Foundation. All four students are LASAL (Louisiana Service and Leadership) Scholars in the Ogden Honors College. Students must be selected through an internal competition at LSU, and each four-year college can nominate only four students to compete nationally.
