On March 12, 2017 twenty-five German engineering students arrived in Louisiana as part of a 3-week program hosted by LSU International Programs. This is the second year of the program, which is sponsored by the German-American Fulbright Commission. It focuses on teaching the participants about entrepreneurship as it relates to engineering. It also provides an introduction to higher education in the U.S. During their stay, the participants will shadow engineering students; this is facilitated through a newly implemented buddy program that pairs the participants with an LSU engineering student prior to their arrival, allowing them to establish a relationship via e-mail and skype before the program begins. The German guests will also visit high profile gulf coast landmarks and engineering-related sites, and will enjoy some tourist destinations on the weekends.
The program was initiated abroad by the German-American Fulbright Commission. LSU offers a program that connects entrepreneurship with engineering, and this program interested the German-American Fulbright Commission.
