HSS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE INFORMATION

LSU is excited to offer a new online scholarship system, Blackbaud Award Management, to help students in their scholarship search. This system will enable them to search for and apply to various available opportunities funded through the LSU Foundation. Students can log in using their myLSU credentials. Eligibility

  • Students must be pursing a major in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, be enrolled full-time for both the fall and spring semesters of the academic year the scholarship is awarded, and have no more than 110 semester hours.
  • The recipients must have at least a 3.4 GPA, both overall and in the LSU system, unless otherwise indicated.

Judging Criteria

Primary

  • Scholastic achievement
  • Evidence of financial need

Secondary

  • Community activities

Award Notification Timeline

  • Incoming freshman will be notified of scholarship awards in the spring.

 

College of Humanities & Social Sciences Undergraduate Students Scholarships 

  • Humanities & Social Sciences Athletic Scholarship HSS student; must have 3.50 GPA overall and in LSU System; cannot be an LSU athlete; cannot have other major LSU scholarship
  • Humanities & Social Sciences Student Scholarship HSS student with financial need; must have 3.50 GPA overall and in LSU System; LSU and community activities
  • George Warren Bofinger Endowed Scholarship HSS student with financial need; must have 3.5 GPA overall and in LSU System 
  • Randy and Rosemary Ewing Student Achievement Award HSS student with financial need; economically challenged student with strong work ethic and academic promise
  • Cheryl Colletta Fasullo Scholarship HSS student with financial need; must have 3.5 GPA overall and in LSU System; priority out-of-state student majoring in psychology or sociology; priority be given to students interested in pursuing a teaching career and demonstrated passion for LSU through university related activities
  • Fussell Out of State Tiger Award FT HSS student with financial need; nonresident of Louisiana with preference to student from Arkansas
  • Elise S. and Charles E. Kaufman Endowed Scholarship HSS student with financial need; must have 3.50 GPA overall and in LSU System
  • Herbert Huey McElveen Scholarship HSS student; must have overall 3.50 GPA overall and in LSU System
  • Nora McLin and John Evans McGowan Scholarship FT UG majoring in History or Economics; minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Mr. & Mrs. James S. McHugh Scholarship HSS student with financial need; must have 3.5 GPA overall and in the LSU System
  • Mu Sigma Rho Outstanding Upperclassman Scholarship HSS junior or senior; must be a graduate of Louisiana high school; must have 3.5 GPA overall and in the LSU System
  • Pineda Family Scholarship HSS Student; must have overall 3.5 GPA; preference given to residents of the West Bank of New Orleans or second preference Orleans or the East Bank of Jefferson Parish who are demographically underrepresented
  • Roddy L. Richard General Studies Scholarship At least 36 hours in Interdisciplinary Studies curriculum; at least 3.00 GPA overall and in the LSU System
  • Charles W. Richardson, Jr. Scholarship FT HSS student in ROTC or veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces
  • Chris Roy, Jr. and Leila H. Roy Scholarship FT HSS student with financial need; must have 3.5 GPA overall and in the LSU System
  • Evelyn Young Robinson Award of Excellence FT HSS student with outstanding commitment in their community or school through diversity outreach; consideration given to graduates of Benjamin Franklin High School, first generation college student, and Orleans Parish resident
  • Karl and Sue Roider Undergraduate Scholarship HSS student with financial need; must have 3.5 GPA overall and in the LSU System
  • Joe and Gina Sanford Scholarship HSS Student with financial need; minimum 2.0 GPA overall; preference for St. Mary Parish resident or second preference Iberia, Vermillion, St Martin, Assumption, Lafourche & Terrebonne Parishes
  • Schroeder Family Scholarship FT HSS sophomore with financial need; preference given to Louisiana resident, first-generation college student
  • Harvey Jay and Betty Adele Jacobs Schwartzberg Fellowship First year Graduate student enrolled in HSS; 3.50 undergraduate GPA.  2/3 of the money goes to graduate student and 1/3 money goes to undergraduate student in ROTC or AROTC with exceptional leadership skills; 3.5 GPA overall and in the LSU System
  • Shepherd Family Scholarship FT HSS student with financial need
  • Thomas Sullivan H&SS Scholarship FT HSS student with financial need; must have 3.5 GPA
  • Walkup Achievers Undergraduate Student Award FT HSS student with financial need; consideration given to first generation college student or student of a minority ethnicity

 

College of Humanities & Social Sciences Study Abroad Scholarships

Students will be notified about scholarships in the spring.

  • Joy Louise Sullivan Memorial Travel Abroad Scholarship FT HSS student (sophomores, junior, or seniors only)
  • Robert B. Allen Scholarship for Student Travel Abroad FT HSS student (sophomores or juniors preferred); enrolled in HSS Residential College during freshman year

 

College of Humanities & Social Sciences Incoming Freshman Scholarships

Students will be notified about scholarship awards in the spring.

  • Thomas A. and Peggy S. Collins Scholarship Full-time incoming freshman intending to pursue a major in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences; must have a 3.0 or higher GPA; preference for Jena High School or LaSalle Parish resident or second preference Winn, Caldwell or Catahoula Parishes.
  • Thomas Clayton Simmons Memorial Scholarship Full-time incoming freshman intending to pursue a major in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences; must have a 3.0 or higher GPA; preference for Bossier Parish resident and participant in 4-H.
  • Thomas E. & Rebecca Reeves Simmons Scholarship in Memory of Thomas Clayton Simmons Full-time incoming freshman intending to pursue a major in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences; preference for Bossier Parish resident and participant in 4-H.
