  • Philosophy undergraduate students Blake Allen and David Judd have been selected as winners of the Tiger Athletic Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship, in support of their honors thesis research. Congrats to Blake and David!
  • Prof. Francois Raffoul's co-translation of Heidegger in France by Dominique Janicaud (Indiana University Press, 2015) has been selected as a finalist in non-fiction for the 2016 French-American Foundation Translation Prize, a prize "for the best translation from French to English in fiction and nonfiction."
  • The philosophy department's 2015–2016 Edward Shirley Scholarship, a prize for best submitted paper, has been awarded to Miriam Johnson (graduate) and to Blake Allen and David Judd (tied for undergraduate).
  • Philosophy M.A. alumnus Jaideep Shah has been accepted to continue his graduate studies, with scholarship, in the four-year PhD program in Philosophy at the University of Warwick.
  • Philosophy M.A. student Casey Spinks has been accepted to the Young Scholars Program for the study of Kierkegaard at St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
  • Undergraduate philosophy major Casey Paulin has been accepted to the UC San Diego Summer Program for Women in Philosophy.
  • Undergraduate philosophy major Eli Minor has been accepted to the Philosophy in an Inclusive Key (PIKSI) Summer Institute.
  • Prof. Charles Pence was recently awarded the 2015-2016 Tiger Athletic Foundation Teaching Award.
  • Philosophy M.A. alumnus Ross Romero (M.A. 1997), now Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Creighton University, has recently published a book, Without the Least Tremor: The Sacrifice of Socrates in Plato's Phaedo. Visit the publisher's website to learn more!
  • Philosophy M.A. student Daniel Swaim has been accepted to continue his graduate studies in the PhD program at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Philosophy.
  • Prof. Charles Pence was recently invited to contribute to a workshop and guest-lecture at the Naval Postgraduate School, on the topic of the ethics of cyberwarfare and scientific research and development, funded by the National Science Foundation.
