Spring Semester

Congratulations to James Rocha for receiving a Tiger Athletic Foundation Undergraduate Teaching Award this semester.

Dr. David Pettigrew, Professor of Philosophy at Southern Connecticut State University, visited the philosophy faculty on February 22, screening a documentary film that he directed with his son Jonah Quickmire Pettigrew. The Geography of Genocide in Bosnia: Redeeming the Earth (US, 2011, 50 min) explores the extent to which the perpetrators of the genocide in Bosnia (1992-1995) violently transformed the terrain. The film is based on Pettigrew’s research in Bosnia over the course of the past decade. It has been screened at universities and conferences around the world and was an official selection of the Srebrenica International Film Festival in September 2011. Professor Pettigrew discussed with the audience the ethical issues raised in the movie. Thanks go to Professor François Raffoul for arranging this visit.
