Scholarships 

In addition to providing numerous scholarships to current LSU Engineering students each year, the College of Engineering also has several competitive scholarships available to qualified first-year engineering students.

The awards detailed below share a common application but are selective according to their own eligibility requirements. Please read through the information below and make sure to submit your application by the deadline on February 1, 2018


Application instructions:

  • Complete and submit the online application by February 1, 2018.

  • Upload a 1,000-word essay in response to the following prompt: 
      • The LSU College of Engineering prepares LSU Engineers who possess the following characteristics: hands-on problem solving, excellent communication skills, engaged citizenship in the local and global community, entrepreneurial spirit, and demonstrated leadership potential. Please describe the ways in which you have demonstrated several of these characteristics in the past and/or plan to develop them during your time at the LSU College of Engineering.

Atlas Power Scholarship

The list of scholarships above were created by our generous donors and alumni in order to support and inspire tomorrow’s engineering leaders. Each of these scholarships is valued at $2,500/year for up to four years, totaling up to $10,000 throughout a recipient’s college career. These awards are open to entering freshmen who are committed to pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Computer Science and who meet the eligibility requirements provided in the section below

*Eligibility Requirements:

  • Admitted LSU Freshmen entering in Fall 2018
  • An official ACT composite score of 33 or higher (or equivalent composite SAT score)
  • An official high school GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Committed Engineering, Computer Science, or Construction Management major

*Although any student who meets the above requirements will be considered for the award, some priority will be given to the biological or legally adopted children or grandchildren of LSU Engineering, Construction Management or Computer Science graduates. Note: alumni/legacy connections to other colleges/departments at LSU will not be given priority.

 

The Chevron Energy Leaders Scholarship

The Chevron Energy Leaders Scholarship is made possible by Chevron’s continued financial support of LSU College of Engineering students. These scholarships are valued at $5,000/year for up to four years, totaling up to $20,000 throughout a recipient’s college career. Priority consideration will be given to applicants who indicate an interest in the energy industry and meet the eligibility criteria provided below.

*Eligibility Requirements:

  • Admitted LSU Freshmen entering in Fall 2018
  • An official ACT composite score of 33 or higher (or equivalent composite SAT score)
  • An official high school GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Committed Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Construction Management, or Computer Science major

 

The Ronald E. and Cecilia M. Rinard Scholarship

The Ronald and Cecilia Rinard Scholarship is highly selective and is awarded annually to a small group of students committed to majoring in either Petroleum Engineering or Environmental Engineering. This award is valued at $12,000/year for up to four years, totaling up to $48,000 throughout a recipient’s college career.

*Eligibility Requirements:

  • Admitted LSU Freshman entering in Fall 2018
  • An official ACT composite score of 33 or higher (or equivalent composite SAT score)
  • An official high school GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Committed Petroleum Engineering or Environmental Engineering major
