Alison McFarland

Associate Professor of Musicology


 

Biography

Alison Sanders McFarland joined the LSU faculty in 1998. She holds the B.A. degree from Chapman College, the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from University of California, Santa Barbara. McFarland held a Fulbright Fellowship to Rome in 1993-94, and a Rotary International Foundation Scholarship to London in 1994-95.

She was also awarded a grant from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation for research in the Veneto, and summer research stipends from LSU. She is the recipient of two LSU freshmen teaching awards.

McFarland has published articles and reviews in Early Music, Studi Musicali, Music and Letters, the International Journal of Musicology, and has written chapters for several festschriften, books, and symposia. She has delivered conference and symposia papers on a wide variety of subjects in North America and Europe.

Her research interests include the sacred music of Cristobal de Morales; patronage in Renaissance Rome; music of the English Renaissance; and music in 19th and 20th century Britain.
